Join us bright and early this summer as we connect with nature before opening at Chelsea Physic Garden.

This introductory workshop will allow participants to explore some of the essential skills of self-compassion amongst the beautiful surroundings of Chelsea Physic Garden. With time to explore the garden after the session, participants can continue to take mindfulness into the day as it unfolds.

About the Workshop

Self-compassion is at the heart of mindfulness and self-compassion skills help us be kind and caring toward ourselves rather than being critical and judgemental. It allows us to feel connected to others when we suffer, rather than feeling isolated and alone.

Unlike self-esteem, the good feelings of self-compassion do not depend on being special and better than other people; instead, they come from caring about ourselves and recognising that we all go through difficult times.

This session will include:

  • Guided mindful self-compassion practice.
  • Mindfulness activities using the garden and nature as inspiration.
  • Gentle mindful movement and mindful self-compassionate walking.
  • Periods of silence and group reflection toward the end of the session.

  • The workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced mindfulness meditators alike. It offers the perfect opportunity to reconnect with your practice if it has lapsed, with many finding that attending the session offers motivation to help restart or support an ongoing mindfulness practice. Those new to mindfulness will be welcomed and supported within a community of like-minded people.
