Join us for a summer evening outdoors, connecting mindfully with nature at Chelsea Physic Garden.
In mindfulness, we train our minds to be present by resting our attention on a sensory anchor such as the breath, sounds, sights, or sensations. Practising mindfulness outdoors can offer a particularly rich experience and help us more easily switch from the ‘doing’ mode of our minds into the being mode of mindfulness. Mindful nature connection is known to have a therapeutic effect and can provide a nourishing break from our everyday environments.
About the Workshop
We will begin the session with a short grounding meditation practice to help us to settle after the busyness of the day. In doing so, we will reflect on some of the principles of mindfulness through our practice. This will act as a primer before we attune our senses to the full spectrum of sights, sounds, and sensations that we can experience in nature when we mindfully pay attention.
We will explore the garden using mindfulness as our looking glass. Along the way, we will enrich our experience by engaging with the natural world and wildlife around us.
This session will include:
Guided mindfulness practice.
Mindfulness activities using the garden and nature as inspiration.
Gentle mindful movement and mindful walking.
Periods of silence and group reflection toward the end of the session.
The workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced mindfulness meditators alike. It offers the perfect opportunity to reconnect with your practice if it has lapsed to help refresh or support an ongoing mindfulness practice. Those new to mindfulness will be welcomed and supported within a community of like-minded people.
