For many, navigating the menstrual cycle can be a challenge. It represents a delicate balancing act between unpredictable hormonal fluctuations and ranging physical symptoms that can interrupt our daily routine and long-awaited plans.

This balancing act is one that many will manage throughout the majority of their adult life, with societal expectation often suggesting that this is simply ‘normal’ and something to be tolerated.

For those experiencing it however, this may mean trying to cope with premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) alongside the day-to-day challenges of life.

Both PMS and PMDD can cause an influx of intense mood changes that impact both our actions and judgements, coupled with feelings such as anxiousness, anger and overwhelm. All of which is further peppered with physical pain and often a sense of having missed out.

About the Workshop

This workshop will introduce the key skills and principles of mindfulness that can help us to navigate the female cycle with more ease and clarity, which can be especially helpful for those suffering from PMS and PMD.

We will learn how to use menstrual cycle awareness to listen to our bodies, supporting better regulation of our emotions and energy levels. The workshop will also help us develop skills that will enable mindful self-care and compassion as we move through all the highs and lows of our cycle.

In understanding that cyclical suffering is both difficult yet common, participants will have the opportunity to come together and share a sense of common humanity, as well as compassion for others.

By taking a mindful approach and bringing more awareness to our menstrual cycle and its different phases, we can:

  • Develop a greater sense of connection to our bodies and physical needs
  • Recognise patterns of moods and behaviours in each phase
  • Manage our energy in an efficient and sustainable way
  • Handle difficult emotions with greater ease
  • Cultivate practical methods of self-care in daily life
  • Adapt expectations and plans to accommodate times we are likely to feel unwell or low in energy.

You Will Need:

  • PC/Laptop/Macbook or Tablet with access to Zoom
  • Webcam and microphone
  • Stable internet connection
  • A private space where you can be undisturbed

  • Notes:

    • The class will be held online via Zoom.
    • No previous mindfulness experience required.
    • Registrants will receive additional details a few days before the first session.
    • The content of the workshop is designed for anyone who is menstruating or experiencing cyclical hormonal changes regardless of their gender identity.
    • The workshop will consist of insightful discussions, practical meditation exercises and group exchanges.
    • The teacher and participants will be live and visible.
    • If you have previously taken part in our Female Cycle Workshop you are welcome to join. However, some content may be repeated.
