This year has seen a renewed focus on the impact of racism and the monumental harm and suffering it is causing. This workshop uses mindfulness as a supportive tool for racial awareness work. 

Mindfulness allows us to meet our distress with compassion, to see clearly what is happening and not be overwhelmed by challenging emotions. It offers some peace in the midst of suffering. Mindfulness is not about inaction, but it can mean we experience less emotional reactivity which gives us a chance to take a pause and have a different perspective, so we can then let go of our habits of harm, see clearly and respond more wisely.

This workshop is an invitationto explore the use of mindfulness in racial awareness work and the role we all play in a systemically racist society. The workshop will be experiential and include a mixture of mindfulness practices, teaching and group discussion. 

No prior mindfulness experience required. This workshop is open and welcome to all.
