About the Course

    This explorative and creative mindful journaling course combines mindfulness meditation with the powerful practice of journaling. Journaling is a therapeutic practice which can support us in externalising and making sense of our experiences, reflecting on the past and setting intentions for the future. It allows us to slow down, get some space from our thoughts and perhaps view them in a different light.

    During the course we will look at mindfulness principles such as equanimity, compassion, focused attention and self-care, using a journal to better understand how to integrate these attitudes into everyday life. Using a journal as an anchor to focus attention, the course will also offer an outlet for deep reflection.

    The weekly sessions will include mindfulness practice, journaling exercises and group discussion and reflection. Participants will be encouraged to keep a journal of meditation practice throughout the course to observe their progress and ignite motivation. In between the course sessions there will be practices to do at home and so the course will also support an ongoing mindfulness and journaling practice.

    The course will enable participants to:

    • Practice meditation in a new context;
    • Understand our past and set intentions for the future;
    • Apply meditative techniques to everyday living;
    • Develop their ability to reflect in a written form;
    • Improve creative writing skills; and
    • Establish or maintain regular meditation and reflective practice
