This inspiring workshop offers an introduction to Joanna Macy’s Active Hope work on responding to climate change. It has been designed to help us find hope, take action, cultivate courage and build resilience amid the challenges that face us.
Active Hope is a movement and book, developed by long-time activists Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone. They describe Active Hope as ‘something we do rather than have’ - a unique set of tools that can enable us to cope with the climate crisis and find an active role, no matter how small or large.
This experiential workshop has been curated by highly experienced mindfulness practitioner, Rosalie Dores. The session will explore the four stages of Joanna Macy’s ‘Work That Reconnects Spiral’, which form the basis of her Active Hope work. It will also use relational mindfulness and community connection as tools for empowering responsiveness and resilience in the midst of uncertainty.
The workshop will include:
The course is open to everyone, and no prior knowledge of Active Hope, The Work That Reconnects Spiral or mindfulness is required. Please note that although meditation is a part of the workshop, the workshop itself does not centre around mindfulness. The main focus will be to offer a supportive, non-judgmental space for us to come together, gather courage, develop resilience and take action in the face of climate change.
