This one-day Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) workshop will provide the inspiration and practical tools to start regaining control of your life. It will introduce some key mindfulness strategies that can help you more effectively handle the stresses and challenges that life inevitably brings, and also provide you with a framework for developing your own personal compass for life.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a recognised mindfulness-based approach that has been shown to be effective in dealing with a variety of conditions including stress, depression, and anxiety. ACT gets its name from its core messages: to accept what is out of your personal control, while at the same time committing to actions in areas of our lives where we actually have control - so that we can proactively improve the quality of our lives.

ACT does this by:

  • teaching mindfulness skills to deal with challenging thoughts and feelings effectively – in such a way that they impact you less; and
  • helping you clarify what is truly important and meaningful to you - i.e. your values - and how to use that knowledge to guide, inspire and motivate positive life changes.

The ACT approach differs from our standard mindfulness workshops in that the formal mindfulness meditation are shorter (approx. 5 to 15 minutes). In addition, the course also uses visualisation, creative metaphors and a wide range of experiential exercises. The day will include periods of guided meditation, group discussion, psychoeducational teaching, and reflective pair work.

  • No prior mindfulness experience is required.
  • The workshop will be experiential and psycho-educational but is not a substitute for psychotherapy. Please contact us if you have any questions about whether the workshop is suitable for you.
