About the Course

Deeper Mindfulness is an 8-week course for people who have already completed a mindfulness-based programme, such as MBSR or MBCT, and would like to deepen their practice or gently reconnect with it over time.

This course was developed by Professor Mark Williams and colleagues, and builds on a foundation of mindfulness to explore how stress and habitual patterns quietly take shape in everyday life.

A central theme of the course is becoming more aware of feeling tone – the immediate sense of each experience as pleasant, unpleasant, or neutral. Noticing this earlier helps us see when we are being pulled into automatic reactions.

The course is taught in a practical, experiential, and supportive way, and includes guided meditation, inquiry, and group dialogue.

The key learning points include:

  • Deepening your ability to ground attention using the body, breath, and everyday experience
  • Becoming more aware of the feeling tone of experience, and how it shapes stress and habitual reactions
  • Noticing patterns of striving, avoidance, and self-criticism earlier, before they take hold
  • Recognising when the body and mind are under unnecessary pressure, and exploring ways to settle and respond more wisely
  • Reconnecting with moments of ease, interest, and appreciation in everyday life
